Maj. Timothy Cook (Ret.) Admissions Counselor |
Major Timothy L. Cook, USAR (Ret.) has begun a new position at Howe Military School as an Admissions Counselor. Maj. Cook previously worked at HMS from May 1988 until June 1998 as a TAC Officer in Company D. His daughter (Angela, Class of 91) and son (Doug, Class of 93) were graduates of HMS.
Before returning to Howe, Tim was employed by Atwood Mobile Products in the Quality Dept. Major Cook’s military career began as a Private in the U.S. Marine Corps in June of 1969; he served two tours in Viet Nam with the 1st Marine Division. Other assignments included Japan, Thailand, Korea, the Philippines, Hawaii and California. Some of this time was spent aboard an aircraft carrier (USS Oriskany CVA 34) and a missile cruiser (USS Oklahoma City CLG-5). Sgt. Cook was discharged honorably in Nov. 1976.
In July of 1978, he joined the Indiana Army National Guard. This gave him many assignments in Indiana and around the world. In Oct.1980, he went to Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as a 2nd Lt in the Infantry. Maj. Cook served as a Platoon Leader, an Executive Officer, and a Company Commander. Then he was assigned sequentially to Battalion, Brigade and Divisional staff positions as an Intelligence Officer (S2), a Battalion and Brigade level Operations and Training Officer (S-3), and finally in the 38th Div. as the Operations and Plans Officer. Major Cook also served as a Liaison Officer for all Reserve and Guard Deployments to Central America at Soto Cano AB in Honduras, in 1993. In August 1999, the Major left the active Guard and transferred into the U.S. Army Reserve Retired. Tim received many awards and decorations and holds a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Business Management.
His wife’s name is Janice (she’s in Howe’s Business Office) and they have 5 grown children and 11 grandchildren.
