Placement Requirements for Upper School Credit Courses
The following requirements must be met in order for an 8th grade cadet to be eligible to enroll in an Upper School credited course:
1. The entering 8th grade cadet must currently hold a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. The Lower School principal will review prior transcript records from the previous academic school year to obtain the current grade point average. This will be used to determine eligibility to enroll in an Upper School course.
2. The entering 8th grade cadet must meet all required curriculum skills in the core subjects.
3. The course cut off date is three weeks after the first day of school and three weeks after the start of second semester. No 8th grade cadet, despite eligibility, will be allowed to enroll in an Upper School course after the three-week period.
4. An 8th grade cadet that arrives after the three-week period is eligible to take a second semester Upper School course if he/she is currently maintaining a 3.0 grade point average in the active school year.
5. If an eligible 8th grade cadet is not succeeding and is failing the Upper School course after a two-week period, he/she will be removed from the course.
6. The 8th grade cadets, who have not met the eligibility requirements, have arrived after the three-week period or have been removed from the course, will be enrolled in elective courses.
