The Parents' Association

Who We Are ...

The Parents' Association is an organization similar to the public school's PTA.  We focus on two primary agendas.  First, we act to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas between the school and the families.  The Executive Board meets four times each year and the General Membership meets twice.  All meetings are held on special weekends when families are typically on campus.  These meetings are an important way to promote communication.

The second part of the Parents' Association agenda deals directly with improving the welfare of the cadet corps through fundraisers that we organize.  Through discussions between the administration and the Parents' Association, a "Wish List" is compiled every year to help improve the quality of cadet life on campus.  Each year the association donates funds to different areas on the Wish List.  Our fundraising projects include souvenir sales, a family picnic held during Founders' Day Weekend in October, corsage sales, a silent auction held during Parents' Weekend in February and assorted raffles.  The fundraisers also help support coffee corners and desserts held during the major weekends.  Recently we have provided funding to the new cadet weight and fitness center and the library and technology center, resurfaced the baseball diamond and gave a cash donation to each Company for entertainment improvements in each barracks.  We also sponsor several year-end awards and medals for the cadets.

Each year the Association sponsors Parents' Weekend in February, they co-host the Mother's Day festivities including the Mothers' Day Ball in May, and we plan and host the annual Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day and the annual Senior Banquet.

All members are eligible to serve on the Parents' Association Executive Board.  Your dues help support the mailings, projects, special events and gifts sponsored by the Association.

You can help support Howe Military School's effort by purchasing HMS Memorabilia. We offer things like mugs, afghans and key chains just to name a few.  The sales of these items help fund items presented to the school's "Wish List" that is complied each year by faculty and staff. These funds help improve the quality of cadet life on campus.
