Mr. James E. Malerich graduated from Lincoln Community High School in Lincoln, Illinois, in 1962 and from Illinois College with a B.A. in 1966.  He began teaching at HMS as English master in 1966.  He earned an M.S. from the University of St. Francis in 1975.

Over the course of 37 years, Mr. Malerich’s academic duties have included English master, English department chair, lower school principal, athletic director, dean of students, headmaster, and member of the executive council.  He also coached high school varsity football, track and lower school golf.  Mr. Malerich taught and coached at the HMS Summer Camp for over 20 years.  His duties included swimming instructor, athletic director, sports’ camp director, English master, and academic director.  He is an honorary member of the Varsity “H” Club and an honorary alumnus.  

Mr. Malerich is married to the former Karen L. Warner of Howe, Indiana.
