Mrs. Doris Trout came to Howe Military school in June 1971 with her husband, William C. Trout, after her husband retired from 22 years of Army service. She has traveled with her husband for two three-year tours of duty in Germany and one four-year tour in Italy.

She joined Howe's Staff and Faculty in 1975 as the night relief nurse at the school's infirmary. Later, she performed duties in the Admission Office and in the Quartermaster store. She also performed duties as nurse at Howe Military School's Summer Camp for 15 years.

In 1987, the Board of Trustees made the decision to enroll female cadets as boarding students. Mrs. Trout was offered and accepted the position as the school's first Dormitory Supervisor for the school year 1988 and served successfully in that position until her retirement in June 2000

Mrs. Trout came out of retirement at the end of the first semester of the school year 2002-2003 to once again serve as Dormitory Supervisor for the female cadets. She is a faithful member of the Episcopal Church and the mother of one daughter and three sons and has 10 grandchildren.
