Dear Alumni and Friends:
The start of a new academic year is always exhilarating, but this fall is especially bright with promise and possibility. The fall semester opens with enrollment, not only thirty-eight percent higher than last year, but also with selectivity the most rigorous in our history. You will be gratified to know that Howe’s enrollment of 140 students was drawn from a pool of hundreds of applicants -- reflecting very positively on our momentum and growing reputation, with quality academics, extra curricular studies and activities, and athletic programs.
My heartfelt thanks go out to all faculty, staff, alumni, parents, friends, and cadets, who have contributed to transforming Howe Military School into the highly respected institution that it has been for 124 years.
In addition, Howe Military School’s effective fundraising has been recognized this year through several grant acceptances. We continue to solicit corporate and foundation funds. While we are proud of our 15% alumni giving rate, we look to increase that to 20% or greater in the upcoming year. Your continued strong support is critical, because it is closely watched by corporations and foundations as a key determinant in their ongoing funding choices. The impact of alumni giving on these critical giving decisions cannot be overestimated. Parents, friends, faculty, staff, and corporation giving are equally important to Howe, and the foundations we look to for additional financial support.
I will continue to work hard to merit your continued support, with new initiatives to further enhance the quality of our academics and cadet life. Your gift to Howe Military School today is the greatest investment you could make toward the future of your school and its cadets. Please add your name to the 2007 – 2008 Annual Fund Report!
Alumni: Please help our cadets reap future rewards from the same gift – “Your Howe Education” – from which you continue to benefit each and every day.
If you haven’t been back to campus lately, why not plan a visit—to see for yourself the new campus improvements and the difference that your gift makes in the lives of your alma mater and today’s cadets.
Sincerely,
Jean Miller
